The Joint Visayas-Mindanao Consultation on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) in Developing Countries: Exploring Forest Carbon Revenues for Philippine Forest-Based Communities held at the Mindanao Training Resource Center, Bajada, Davao City on July 7-8, 2009 is a result of a 2-day workshop that brought together seventy-two (72) local NGOs, Community-Based Organizations, Indigenous Peoples, Local Government Units, local DENR offices, Community and Forest-Based Organizations, research as well as academic institutions to present an overview on REDD as a mitigating measure of climate change. The 2-day workshop provided a venue to draw out initial recommendations that would address local and regional realities.
