The Non-Timber Forest Products – Exchange Programme Asia (NTFP-EP) is a collaborative, regional network of grassroots NGOs and peoples’ organizations that seek to build the capacity of forest-based communities in the sustainable management of forests, especially in the conservation and trade of non-timber forest products. NTFP-EP implements programs in six (6) Asian countries and maintains regional headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

NTFP-EP’s mission is to act as a catalyst in empowering local organizations towards sustainable management of forested landscapes and ecosystems and the right to access natural resources, livelihood, cultural identity and gender equality. NTFP-EP implements support programs on community conservation and resource management, indigenous food and health, tenure rights and governance and sustainable community livelihoods.  NTFP-EP manages a small grant facility and convenes a civil society forum in ASEAN to promote and secure community rights and safeguards in forestry, governance and small-medium forest enterprises.

In line with this, NTFP-EP is looking for a LIBRARY INTERN

The ideal applicant should have an interest in information management and/or library science. The successful candidate will be responsible for updating NTFP-EP’s database of its publications through its new online platform. Those looking to gain valuable information management experience with an established organization are encouraged to apply. A minimal budget for allowance to cover for transportation. Scheduled days in the office will be arranged.

Specific responsibilities

  • Updating the NTFP-EP publications database
  • Assisting the Communication and Knowledge Management Officer in weeding and collections maintenance
  • Making live the NTFP-EP publications database via its new online platform
  • Develop plans and suggestions on strategies and ways forward with the NTFP-EP mini-library

Qualifications and skills

  • Currently course of study or ample background in information technology, library science, or any related field
  • Working knowledge in the use of basic office software
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Passion for indigenous peoples and forests

Internship period: 8-12 weeks (2-3 months).
