NTFP-EP Asia is looking for an Intern for its Community-based Conservation (CBC) Program for a period of six (6) months from July to December 2020 with duty station in Quezon City.

NTFP-EP Asia is a collaborative network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) working with forest-based communities to strengthen their capacity in the sustainable management of natural resources in the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia. THE POSITION: 

The applicant should have a working knowledge on community conservation, indigenous peoples and non-timber forest products and adept at communications and coordination, including research assistance and support to events in various platform. Those interested in gaining valuable experience with an established organization focused on environmental and development work are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  1. Providing assistance to the creation of a pollen atlas for Asian native bees
  2. Backstopping the Madhu Duniya Secretariat for work related to forest honey and other knowledge exchange and capacity building activities of the network
  3. Assisting in the creation of the participatory resource monitoring tool kit
  4. Conducting data-gathering through interviews and secondary-data review
  5. Literature review on community-based conservation related themes such as, but not limited to, participatory resource monitoring and sustainable harvest protocols
  6. Writing reports and assisting in documentation
  7. Contributing content on community-based conservation for NTFP-EP’s website and/or social media channels
  8. Attending talks, meetings and webinars related to community-based conservation
  9. Coordination with partners and stakeholders of the NTFP-EP network;
  10. Any other tasks deemed necessary to achieve the program objectives of NTFP-EP for its community-based conservation initiatives

Qualifications and skills

  • Current course of study or has ample background in forestry, environmental or social science, development communication, community development, or related fields/discipline
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Has a good grasp of MS Office applications and social media platforms
  • Ability to collaborate well and to deliver work in a timely manner
  • Well-organized and dependable
  • Can represent NTFP-EP with professionalism and courtesy
  • Comfortable coordinating with various stakeholders
  • Has interest and passion for conservation, indigenous peoples and forests
  • Available at least 2-3 days a week, up to 24 hours a week (96-100 hours a month), but can be flexible around events, if any
  • Can work online on weekdays for a few hours each week, preferably between the hours of 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Allowance and certification

A modest allowance will be provided for the duration of internship. NTFP-EP can provide certification for the internship period should this be required.
