MANILA, Philippines — In its aim to continuously shape the minds that shape the nation, the University of the Philippines (UP) System recognizes the exceptional research productivity of its diverse faculty.  The UP Scientific Productivity System (SPS), which was approved by the Board of Regents in its 1199th meeting on August 2005, aims to (1) support the development of science and technology and (2) encourage and reward scientific productivity.

Since its inception in 2005, the SPS has already awarded 256 UP faculty members from its different campuses as of 2015. This year one of the awardees is the former dean of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR) of UP Los Banos and member of the NTFP-EP Asia Board of Trustees, Dr. Ramon Razal. As a deserving scientist, he will be conferred the title “UP Scientist II” with a monetary award –  UP Scientific Productivity Award.

Dr. Razal recently completed a study entitled “Harnessing NTFPs for the green economy. The potentials of non-timber forest products in the Southeast Asian region”. From his NTFP-EP family, we would like to congratulate Dr. Razal and wish him unyielding productivity in his field so he can continue to inspire not only young researchers, but also our partner communities! Way to go, Dean!
