Anchoring Culture and Indigenous Knowledge in the NTFP Exchange Programme in Asia

BERSAMA is the annual gathering of the NTFP-EP network, bringing together members, partners, community representatives, and staff from across Asia for collective learning, exchange, reflection, and strengthening of relationships within the network.

During the Programme Coordination Meeting held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 4–6 February 2026, discussions highlighted the growing importance of Culture and Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (CIKSP) across NTFP-EP’s work. Participants recognized the need to strengthen the integration of CIKSP across thematic programmes, improve community-level documentation and safeguarding of Indigenous knowledge and practices, support the transmission of knowledge between generations, and create dedicated spaces for learning, dialogue, and celebration of Indigenous cultures.
