Ugnayang Komunidad at Kalikasan (Linking People & Forests in the Philippines)

NTFP-EP Philippines (NTFP-EP PH) is a collaborative network of non-government organizations (NGOs) and people’s organizations working with Indigenous Peoples and local communities to strengthen, develop, and promote NTFP-based forest management strategies that are sustainable, culturally appropriate, and gender responsive, so communities can thrive for future generations #NotByTimberAlone. It is the lead non-profit in the country that spearheads efforts to empower forest-dependent communities through NTFPs.

With this, NTFP-EP PH envisions empowered indigenous peoples and local communities inclusively governing forest landscapes to contribute to biodiversity conservation and protection, and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The organization’s work centers on four themes:

• Tenure & Governance
• Community-Based Conservation & Resource Management
• Community-Based Livelihoods & Enterprise Development
• Safeguarding Culture

Then called the Non-Timber Forest Products-Task Force (NTFP-TF), the NGO started in 1998 as an offshoot of a conference entitled “Exploring Commercially Viable Community-based NTFP Enterprises – A Mechanism for Sustainable Resource Management,” that evolved into a country office providing the livelihood needs of forest dependent communities on NTFP development in the context of sustainable tropical forest management.

Today, we continue to responding to the emerging needs of communities and assisting organizations working on non-timber forest products (NTFP) development in the Philippines.works with more than 50 community based NTFP enterprises in 12 provinces in the Southern Sierra Madre, Aklan and Negros Island Region, Mindoro, Palawan, and Northern Mindanao landscapes.

Today, NTFP-EP Philippines continues to respond to the emerging needs of communities and assists organizations working on NTFP development in the Philippines. NTFP-EP PH works with more than 50 community-based NTFP enterprises in 12 provinces in the Southern Sierra Madre, Aklan and Negros Island Regions, Mindoro, Palawan, and Northern Mindanao landscapes.
